As an adult dog Educate Although it is extremely Fool
It is very common that people think that after a certain age, the dogs can no longer be trained. Actually it is not illogical to think that, but as happens with humans, teaching may take more time late but any age can learn new things. But how to raise an adult dog that is deep-rooted behaviors? Well, the modern dog training has a solution for this problem: The extinction and shaping behavior.
The extinction of behavior based on the idea that all behavior occurs repeatedly the animal when it is reinforced. Removing this reinforcement, the behavior disappears. For example, when a dog barks at the appearance of a cat, the same appearance of the cat is, in this case, the reinforcement of improper conduct. If the cat fails to appear, the bark will have no reason to be. Logically, this is a very crude example, but graphics very well what we mean.
In a more practical, for example, when we got home the dog jumps wildly us, and despite the discomfort it causes, what we cherish, then we are reinforcing that behavior in dogs. If I come home completely ignore the dog continue to be received in the same way a few times until, in the absence of stimulus, stop doing it.
Do not think that one is hurting the feelings of the dog. Logic is their joy when we got home, but attempts to eliminate the improper reception and then rewarding good behavior otherwise.
Decidedly, this task becomes more difficult with advancing age of the dog, but modern techniques have been studied extensively training how to teach an adult dog and have gathered all this experience in practical exercises and very simplified.
