Ending the Historic Center
Although, fortunately, the influx of tourists do not allow us to see it yet, we risk ending the historical case. And without a monumental downtown living, dynamic, caring and attractive, Salamanca would be such. Other payments are the merchants of the area involved in that early environmental salvation. It occurs in large cities such as Valencia or Seville and other more comparable to ours, like Santiago or Oviedo. They know that the survival of their businesses and even from themselves is linked to that of their urban environment and defend it tooth and nail: associate, create imaginative promotions, seeking a traditional customer loyalty today attracted by the lure of department stores ... Here, however, by apathy, custom, resignation or whatever, our retailers seem repatearles associations and to scratch the pocket then to recover more of what they have invested.
But do not put ourselves too much with the small business that has very poor with no network face the economic crisis, unlike other sectors such as banking or automobile, for example, urban and privileges enjoyed by other supermarkets and municipal neglect. Indeed, the indifference of the authorities to what happens to the traditional trade is what has led to decline in many populations, referred to as the closure of small businesses produce the gradual degradation, erosion and destruction of their environment. Do we want to happen here as some U.S. cities, whose urban center is the only habitat of marginalization, dirt and crime? Without going so far, do we become in the future to our historic in a troubled neighborhood like Raval in Barcelona, the Valencia or Bilbao Velluters San Francisco? Clear that there is a gap for such a thing happens, but if we do not protect from and to small businesses as certain game species, one bad day will end at last our historic center.
