The essential skill for Leadership Excellence


In the business world more and more demanding, leaders must have a set of knowledge skills and experience. While all these are vital foundations, what is clear is that success is not just about skills and competencies. Interpersonal or emotional competence is considered the most important factor in determining leadership excellence. Research undertaken by Daniel Goleman, the thought leader in Emotional Intelligence identified that soft skills are more than twice as important as intellect and skill to achieve leadership excellence.

Goleman's emotional competency framework is divided into two main areas:

1. Personal skills-how to manage

2. Social skills as we manage other

Personal competence

Our personal responsibility is all about how effectively we manage ourselves. It includes much self-awareness that we, our ability to our behavior and our self-motivation.

In fact, many people have never really spent much time building awareness of self and what makes them tick. Imagine the insights that you might get if you just spent a small amount of time on this area.

Social Competence

Social competence and considers how we handle relationships. These days, it is difficult to imagine many roles that are not highly dependent relationships. The success of any organization depends on developing business relationships to protect, manage the challenges, overcome obstacles to name a few. Social competence is also to be aware of the feelings and concerns of others. Imagine what a change program would be like if this element was missing.
